Annual Governing Board Statement 2019 2020

In accordance with the government’s requirements for all Governing boards, the three strategic functions of our governing board are:

Ensure clarity of vision, ethos, values and strategic direction;

Holding the Head teacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils and for the performance management of staff;

Overseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spent.

Our Instrument of Governance is comprised of the following categories:

1 Head teacher

6 Parent governors

1 Local Authority governor

1 Staff governor

7 Co-opted governors

The Full Governing Board meets at least 4 times per year; we also have 3 main committees to consider different aspects of the school and to carry out statutory functions. These committees are:

Quality of Education Committee

Welfare Committee

Staffing, Finance & Maintenance Committee

The work we have completed in our committees during the past year includes:

Annual review and evaluation of the work of the Governing Board carried out

School budget monitoring

Pupil premium /Sports premium evaluation and monitoring

Health and safety issues and building works monitored

Policies and procedures read, updated and reviewed

New curriculum implementation and assessments its monitored to ensure pupil development

Staff allocation and monitoring

Data analysis used to maximise pupil progress and attainment

Attendance monitored and tracked

Single Central Record assessments

Our Governing Board Development plan for 2019- 2020 hopes to achieve the following:

Raising our profile in the local community

Attain full and settled membership for the Governing Board
