Modern Foreign Languages (MFL)
French is taught in Key Stage 2. Teachers plan their lessons using the Language Angels scheme of work and can supplement this with their own ideas and experience. The lessons are designed to motivate, captivate and interest children from the first moment and include range of engaging cross-curricular topics, from The Romans in Year Three to World War Two in Year Six. Through interactive games, stories, songs and written activities, children are taught the five key language learning skills: speaking, listening, reading, writing and grammar.
Enrichment experiences are also organised to raise the profile of Modern Foreign Languages. These have included: celebrating French National Day, tasting French food, organising an after school French club and Year 5/6 pupils attending King Edwards School to learn Spanish.
In Summer Term 2019, a World Languages Day will be held across Raddlebarn School.
