Year 2 – 3D art

We have studying the work of artist Andrea Butler and we have made our own bird sculptures. We designed them first and then practiced tearing, layering and feathering paper. We are so proud of our finished birds.

Y2 World Book Day

We have had a fantastic World Book Day in Year 2.
We have been learning about the author Humphrey Carpenter.
He is famous for writing the Mr Majeika books.
Did you know he also wrote some biographies?
Did you know he could play many musical instruments?
Today we have read the book 365 Penguins. There were lots of Maths problems to solve!
Can you guess some of the characters we dressed up as?

Y2 Science

Today, in Year 2, we had the opportunity to dissect a variety of bulbs and seeds. This activity aimed to help us understand and compare the differences and similarities between seeds and bulbs. Throughout the session, we asked and answered scientific questions that were vital in drawing our conclusions.

Physical Theatre

Year 2 have enjoyed some physical theatre sessions with the REP this half term.  The focus of each session surrounds the work carried out in our Science and Geography topics.  We’ve had so much fun!

Life Cycles

Year 2 have been learning about the life cycles of frogs, sheep and humans in Science today.  We know that life cycles across a range of animal groups can be very different!

Power Maths in Y2

Year 2 have used the new Power Maths resource this week as part of their unit of work on Money.  The children have been thoroughly engaged and have made super progress – well done Year 2!

Pop Up Books

Year 2 have been working together to make a book about the Victorians. In D&T we have been learning about mechanisms and exploring how parts of books can sometimes move. We chose whether to make a slider, wheel or lever and then made a mock-up using paper. We designed a page of the book and wrote a fact about Victorian life. We are so proud of our finished book, we have moving rats, smoke and people!
